How to Print From Your Smartphone

If you have an Internet-enabled smartphone, you may use it to browse the Web or check your emails on your way to work. When doing this, have you ever come across a document, report or an email attachment that you urgently needed to print? Well, now you can do it using your smartphone, sending documents to your home or office printer so that they will be ready and waiting for you when you walk in the door.

There are two main ways you can print documents using your smartphone.

Use Google Cloud Print

If you have a Gmail, and you want to print an email or an email attachment on the move, you can now do it quickly and easily using your smartphone and a handy service called Google Cloud Print. There are few steps to follow before you can start wirelessly printing:
  1. Connect your printer to Google Cloud Print using a Windows PC (Google promises that support for Mac and Linux machines is coming soon)
  2. Go to Gmail. Com on your Android or iPhone browser
  3. Choose the ‘Print’ option from the dropdown menu in the top right-hand corner for anything you want to print
  4. Pick up your document from your printer when you get home or enter the office
Use a mobile printing app

If you use another email provider or than Gmail, or you want to print other documents, reports, images and pages from around the Web, you can use a mobile printing app to send print jobs to your printer at home or at work. Many of the main printer and printer ink manufacturers, such as Epson, Lexmark and Canon, have released their own mobile printing apps which are compatible with their printers. However, there are also many others to choose from.

Mobile printing apps require a small amount of setup, but once this is done, you should be able to print from your smartphone at the touch of a button. Some apps even allow you to scan documents and take photos to be sent to a printer in another location, a feature which many users find very convenient.

Keep your computer free of dust & cat hair

Yet as critical as cleaning is, I suggest you encourage users to try the following tips that will help keep their systems dirt-free in the first place.
  1. Don't keep the PC on the floor. I know this is a tough sell with many users. Tower cases naturally lend themselves to be placed on the floor, users often hate to give up their valuable desk top real estate, and older case fans can be a little loud. But, moving the computer off the floor is one of the best, and easiest, ways to keep the dust bunnies at bay.
  2. Keep the area around the PC clean. This can be tough in naturally dirty environments. (I know. I supported computers in coal-fired power plants.) Yet, most users should be able to regularly vacuum around their machines and keep the area generally free of dirt and debris. This includes the tangle of cords and cables that snake their way around most PCs.
  3. Keep your pets away from the PC. I'm not suggesting you kick Fido out of the house for the sake of a clean computer. But, it's a good idea to keep pets, particularly long-haired ones, away from the computer while it's running. Intake fans and cat hair just don't mix.
  4. Don't regularly eat or drink directly over or right next to the PC. I know almost everyone, including myself, violates this rule. But, it's worth repeating. If you ARE going to eat and drink near a computer, just make sure you're not directly over the keyboard or the computer's case. And, don't set that 64oz soda or nonfat, chai latte right next to the PC. This goes double for laptops.
  5. Keep your sticky fingers off the PC. This seems like common sense, but I've seen enough dirty keyboards and mice to know that too many people refuse to wash their hands before they sit down at the computer. Why? Where they suddenly inspired to finish that sales presentation while eating hot wings and couldn't take 5 minutes to use the sink--or at least a wet nap?
Of course, there are work environments in which equipment is bound to get dirty or worse-construction sites, industrial facilities, outdoor operations, and the like. These tips are not for them. Individuals who work in harsh conditions should have ruggedized equipment specifically designed for the given situation.
Yet the average office worker and home user would do themselves, and their IT support professionals, a big favor by following these simple steps to keep the dust bunnies from taking over their PC.

Optimizing the Value of Your Company's Board

In today’s fast-paced business environment, board software like Directors Desk is no longer a nice-to-have extra—it’s an essential strategy for engaging and deriving maximum value from your company’s directors in real time. Your company already may have adopted certain technologies for managing board matters; yet how many of these scenarios still apply:

Assembling hefty board books with ever-evolving content?

Running to catch the FedEx truck to overnight materials to directors?

Emailing or faxing last-minute schedule changes or pre-reading?

Handing out new documents on the fly in the boardroom?

Struggling to connect with traveling directors on urgent matters?

If any of these sound familiar, your company could benefit from an interactive mobile solution like Directors Desk. These emerging tools not only make board communications and meetings easier—they make them better.

PAPERLESS, PORTABLE—PLUS MORE

For many companies, the main attraction of a board software solution like Directors Desk is its promise of paperless ease. Indeed, such a solution is a life saver for anyone who has ever struggled to manage revisions, multiple printings and distribution of paper documents. Other companies pursue board software simply because it provides access to documents while directors are on the go. This "virtual briefcase" benefit is also critical because directors can download, read and annotate materials from wherever they may be around the world. But an effective mobile board platform is more than a portal to paperless, portable soft copies: it blazes new pathways to engage with your board and optimize the value they bring to your organization.

AGILITY DURING MEETINGS

To be truly useful, a mobile board platform has to work hard everywhere: before meetings, after meetings and—especially—during meetings. Board members and staff alike understand that board meetings can be highly fluid events with discussions that require instantaneous updates of information and swift communication. Expectations for efficiency are high, leaving no room for interruptions with the flow of the meeting or any adhoc technology issues. Although some organizations have long allowed laptops into the boardroom, these devices have significant drawbacks. Beyond creating a visual barrier that can impede directors’ conversations, laptops also invite sporadic multitasking that can distract from the discussion at hand. By contrast, a physically flat solution, such as a board platform iPad app, can actually enhance engagement. Individual directors can use virtual sticky notes to capture questions or ideas right in the flow of the board exhibits. Additionally, a good platform will provide flexible features—such as instant voting, messaging and access to critical documents—that can make board processes faster and easier to execute.

BOARDROOMS WITHOUT BORDERS

Mobile board ware solutions also provide the latitude to hold virtual board meetings. Companies no longer need every director physically in the same room to react to identical documents and reach informed decisions. Virtual meetings can dramatically reduce travel costs and make it economically feasible to recruit board talent from around the globe.

The best mobile board ware solutions allow you to run these virtual meetings just as you would if all your directors were in one room. Directors Desk does this. These solutions allow control of presentations to be passed seamlessly across the room or across the world, and screens are consistently kept in synch no matter where the directors may be.

PICK THE RIGHT PARTNER

Board matters are highly sensitive and board members expect a high level of professionalism and efficiency. In stepping forward onto a more flexible and mobile board platform, you’ll want to partner with a company that can truly deliver, and do so flawlessly. In selecting a partner, ask these questions about their approach and experience:By asking the right questions and choosing the right partner, you’ll be on the road to a more streamlined, more nimble board process.

Integrity:

What can you tell us about your clients and their successes?

Service:

What does your current service model look like? Will I have support

24/7/365?

Practicality:

What challenges might we face in adopting a board portal solution? Is it possible to demo this solution in parallel with our traditional approach?

Ease of use:

What sort of training will be provided to the Directors and Support staff?

Security:

How will you ensure the security of our sensitive materials?

Value:

What kind of ROI do clients typically achieve from this solution? Do you offer value-added resources or relationships that we can leverage?

Not only will you have fewer headaches, you’ll discover new opportunities to engage the best minds and the best ideas—anywhere in the world. Business today is global and digitally driven—shouldn't your board be?

Signs That You Need A Virus And Spyware Removal Service

Having a computer infected with a virus or spyware can be devastating to it. Getting virus and spyware removal services may be the only way to avoid replacing the computer.

If a computer just doesn't work, it's pretty easy to see that something is wrong with it. However, sometimes the symptoms of a computer infection are subtle and not so easy to detect. You need to be able to recognize the signs of infection before you lose important files or have important information stolen.

A computer virus works much like a virus that infects living beings. It just needs a way to get into a "healthy" computer, and it won't take long for the infection to spread throughout the computer.

When a computer becomes infected, one of the more common symptoms is that the computer becomes much slower. However, a slow computer can be caused by a number of things, such as not having enough memory or the system needing to be defragmented. If you attempt to fix both of these problems and the computer is still slow, there's a good chance that it is infected by some sort of malware.

If your computer has less memory available than it should, that also could be a sign of a virus infection. Unexplained changes to files; such as name changes, files missing or becoming corrupt, or new files being created; also are signs of a virus infection.

Spyware is different in that it is not trying to damage your computer, but it wants to steal some type of information and return that information to whoever unleashed the spyware. Some spyware will even change the configuration of your computer, but for the most part spyware is difficult to detect because it is designed to be covert.

A common symptom of a spyware on your computer is when the Home page on your Web browser suddenly changes. Also, when you do a search on a search engine, if the link takes you to a seemingly random website instead of the page you wanted to go to, that also is a sign of spyware.

If you start getting a lot of popup ads, especially if you're not even online or even using a Web browser, that also could be a clue that you have spyware on your computer. Spyware also has been known to add bookmarks to your Web browser.

If you suspect you have spyware on your computer, watch the light for your Internet connection. If it blinks a lot when you are not actively doing anything on your computer, it may be showing the activity of a spyware program on your computer.

Spyware also could affect your email. It could cause you to get emails bounced back to you, and it could send links to all your contacts in your email account.

Other general signs of malware on you computer include strange sounds like beeps or your fan going into overdrive. Also, your computer could suddenly start up programs, freeze up or shut down.

If you have any of these signs, or if your computer suddenly stops working correctly, scan your computer with antivirus software. If that doesn't work, you may want to consider getting help from a computer tech support company that offers virus and spyware removal services.

Want To Buy A New Windows 8 Tablet? All You Need To Know

It is amazing how the Windows 8 tablets have managed to fair on in the current technology market that is highly characterized by cut-throat competition from all over. When Windows made its announcement of expanding their product line to the production of Tablets, it was clear that they were going to make a ground breaking success, but very few ever knew that their success was going to be as phenomenal as it is today. Despite its historic revolution of the computing world and drastic changes in modernity, Microsoft still has its fair share of business hurdles and legal issues to deal with. It is true, however, that the Windows 8 Tablet is not only here to stay, but also to make a commanding presence in the market for a few good reasons.

There are many factors to consider when buying any new electronic gadget especially when one has to pay a premium for it. Due to the fact that these devices are more prone to becoming obsolete because of the rapid increase in new discoveries and inventions, one needs to make sure that they have an electronic device that is going to last for a while and give them a good return on their investment. The Windows 8 tablet is not exempted from these considerations; nevertheless there are legitimate reasons why anyone considering buying them now is bound to get a great deal. The marvels of the Windows 8 operating system and its versatility is one such reason why the Windows 8 tablet is worth investing in for anyone shopping around for this kind of product.

Many are not aware that the development of the Windows 8 operating system began earlier than the release of its predecessor which is Windows 7. This chronology of events is not usually the norm in the technology industry; hence, one is right in questioning why this was so. Windows 8 is an enhanced version of the world-famed Microsoft Windows Operating System designed for use in personal computers, laptops and tablets. In barely 6 months after its release, Microsoft has already reported sales of over 60 million licenses of Windows 8 alone, and this trend appears not to be relenting at all.

The Windows 8 popularity stems from the fact that it has introduced the much-needed changes in the operating system's platform geared towards improving the end-user's computing experience on mobile devices like tablets and giving stiff competition to Android and Apple iOS. Android is a Linux-based mobile operating system designed mainly for touchscreen mobile devices like smartphones and tablets. Apple iOS is also a mobile operating system that is designed and developed by Apple Inc. to perform a similar function. Windows 8 comes with a new touch user interface and shell based on the Microsoft's "Metro" design language.

Microsoft's "Metro" design language was originally designed for the Windows Phone but due to its versatility, it has been widely used in the development of Windows 8. Microsoft has also responded to its users' request for software immune to frequent virus attacks by building an Anti-virus capability in the Windows 8 tablet itself making it easier for tech support. It also contains a secure boot system which is designed to prevent Malware from altering the boot-up process. With the Windows 8 tablet, one will also find emerging technologies like cloud computing, USB 3.0 and Near-Field Communications all integrated in this magnificent piece of art.

The Windows 8 tablet also comes with very powerful and competitive in-built graphics that support gaming and other graphic-intensive uses of the modern-day computers. It is built with a very impressive stand that allows one to erect the tablet on a flat surface without any additional support. It can also be connected to an external keyboard and mouse for better handling if one so desires. This state-of-the-art design coupled with its powerful performance is bound to entice and please any tablet shopper with a great taste for technology and the fine things of life.
